What’s in The Tree – Spotlight.
The sun is setting and the moon is on the rise. Creatures and critters asleep through the day, come out of their hollows to forage and play!.
What To Do?
For seven evenings when the sun is setting and the stars are out, pack your kit and your family and head out to your local parks, golf courses, backyard and nature strips to spotlight the animals who come out after dark.
Match the animals you see to the cut-outs in your activity kit and paste them onto the trees. If they are not an exact match, use what you have- or you can make some additions by illustrating your own.
Always be respectful of the environment and animals. Do not shine torches directly into the eyes of animals, or use a flashing torch, laser light or intense beam to illuminate their habitats. Nocturnal animals are meant to live in the dark – please use your torchlight thoughtfully.
What To Pack?
Pack your spotlight kit, which will include;
- A spotlight each
- notebook and pen
- insect repellent
- take a grownup, group of friends or siblings with you.
Always tell your parents or a carer where you are going.
